Hello! I'm Atulya, author of the prize-winning novel Ayse's Trail, and Mud Ball, the popular true story of how I clawed my way out of the system.
It all started in 2011, when I found myself out of funds and ended up camping in a Turkish field. There was no power or running water on the land, and I had little outdoors survival knowledge. None of this mattered though, because I soon fell in love with my magical square of Earth, and decided to stay. A few months later, despite knowing almost nothing about building, I gathered a team and constructed an earthbag house. It was probably the most empowering thing I've ever done. I continued living alone up on my beloved Mud Mountain until August 2016, when a peculiar set of events caused me to leave. That story is documented in Mud Mountain, the blog turned book coming out soon. I'm now travelling the west coast of Europe with my dog in search of my new off-grid Eden. You can follow my current adventures and learn plenty more about natural building and off-grid living from my other website: www.themudhome.com You can also follow me on FACEBOOK or TWITTER. |
